Weyman created the brand Copenhagen which is, to this day, the most recognized brand of Smokeless tobacco in the US. But why he created it was not out of a want but a need. In the early 1800’s, the most popular way to enjoy tobacco was nasal snuff but using it was problematic by some, especially the farmers. In the fields, it was next to impossible to enjoy a pinch while you were working due to the wind and Weyman sought to create a product that could be used by them. So, after a bit of experimentation, he created a moist tobacco product and called it Copenhagen. Many different tobacco companies would copy Copenhagen’s basic manufacturing methods but would add small changes to make their Dip unique and Grizzly Dip is one of those brands that can thank George Weyman and Copenhagen. |
